Your Building - An Invitation to Meet Christ

Your Building—An Invitation to Meet Christ

Luke 2: 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

A new building isn’t the goal. It's the beginning. The space that you create for your ministry is a canvas; a starting point. It’s the context for big things to come. A well-thought-out, well-designed, and inviting building is a setting for ministry to happen, for lives to be changed, and for God’s kingdom to be impacted.

A building is an invitation.

Your space can be a light to your community, an invitation to be a part of what God is doing.

For example, take a look at Sanctuary Church in North Minneapolis. They needed a place to be a light to their neighbors as well as a destination for them. They desired to beautify their neighborhood and invite the neighbors to become their friends. We created a space with them that would do just that.

Being “the Church” means something different than it’s meant in the past. We’ve gone through one of the most challenging years in history. How many different ways can we dissect, unpack, break down, and deconstruct the last 12 months of ministry and life? A year ago at this time, preachers and bloggers were talking about 2020 being a year of clear vision and new life. And now everything is different. We’ve created strategy on the fly. We’ve built out new policies and processes while we changed our job descriptions to reflect the world around us.

When it comes to worship spaces, some are at limited capacity. Some aren’t using them at all. Some are renting space while others are moving into a new campus. Some are remodeling. Some are repurposing. Some are building new. Others are thinking about how to make the most of what they have. Wherever your church is, there are exciting opportunities in front of you to embrace

This Christmas, our prayer at Station 19 Architects is that you shine to your neighbors, showing them where they can find redemption and hope. Just like the shepherds who ran to find “this thing that has happened,” and like the wise men who followed a star, may those who see you, whether in a new building or in a rented gymnasium, find the hope they’ve been seeking.
